Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement is a CDR method that increases the ocean’s ability to absorb CO2. The saltiness of seawater is naturally caused by dissolved minerals. Among these minerals are some that are alkaline, indicating their ability to bind CO2. By dissolving additional alkaline minerals in seawater, OAE enhances the ocean’s capacity to absorb and store CO2.
